All aboard the Beijing train

Our last night in Shanghai, we had a nice dinner and went to an Acrobat show! The ticket said "Miss this show, miss Shanghai". Haha! It was a lie. The show wasn't that great, but maybe it's because I've seen a few Cirque shows and I have high expectations for these kinds of things.

Good times in Shanghai though! Honestly, the best parts were the markets and the party scene. I really like how it's a small city with a big heart. Places are easy to get to, restaurant settings are unique, and they have some of the most beautiful lounges and clubs I've ever seen.

The train ride to Beijing was about 9 hours long. We took the overnight ride, so it was a first for me to sleep on a train. We got the deluxe cabin and there was nothing deluxe about it! 4 bunks...so that meant there was a strange man sharing it with us. He was nice though. We barely noticed him in there! The beds were very small and uncomfortable. Pillow? It was like a bean bag. I barely slept that night, but that's no different from any other night traveling.

When we got there, it was a breath of fresh air to check into our lovely hotel. We splurged on the Park Plaza Wangfujing. It was located in the center of Beijing and only a short distance from The Forbidden City.

The first day was exhausting! We explored the Temple of Heaven, Lama Temple, and The Temple of Confucius back to back. My legs were aching from all the walking. Temple of Heaven was a site where the Emperors would worship the Gods for good harvests and animals. It was a HUGE Temple.
